RESUMO:

The standardization of biological information dispersed in biodiversity platforms is essential to condense complete and secure information on species composition and physical characteristics of the environment. Thus, our objective was to build a database with plant species occurring in the Cerrado-Amazon transition, containing the collection records and their geographic coordinates, as well as climate, soil and topography data. Based on this database, called 'NeotropTrans', we seek to answer the following questions: 1) What are the species, genera and families with the greatest representation in the Cerrado-Amazon transition? 2) What are the best-sampled regions and vegetation types and those with the greatest sampling gaps? 3) How are species occurrence records distributed across different land use and land cover categories in the Cerrado-Amazon transition? Occurrence records of plant species (angiosperms, gymnosperms and ferns) were obtained from the online platforms speciesLink, GBIF and REFLORA.  We compiled 52,199 records of angiosperms (50,824), gymnosperms (15) and ferns/lycophytes (1,360) for the Cerrado-Amazon transition. Among these records, 28,651 were for trees, 19,742 for shrubs, 10,058 for herbs, 6,648 for vines (woody and non-woody), 5,231 for sub-shrubs, 622 palm trees, 50 for bamboos, 24 for succulents and 21 for hardwoods. These records were distributed in 216 families, 1,438 genera and 6,022 species. The families with the greatest species richness were Fabaceae (726), Rubiaceae (322) and Poaceae (269). The genera with the highest number of records were Miconia (1399), Protium (794) and Solanum (674). Among the most common species, Pourouma minor Benoist (214 records), Cheiloclinium cognatum (Miers) A.C.Sm. (174), Jacaranda copaia (Aubl.) D.Don (170), Myrcia splendens (Sw.) DC (160) and Siparuna guianensis Aubl. (144) stood out. With NeoTropTrans, we hope to make better use of the data made available on the biodiversity platforms for the Cerrado-Amazon transition.
