RESUMO:
Cambará (Vochysia divergens Pohl) is a tree species belonging to the Vochysiaceae family. It has economic 
importance, due to the use of its wood, and medicinal, due to its phytotherapic properties, being the bark, 
leaves, fruits and sap used to treat some diseases. The inappropriate consumption of plants with medicinal
 properties can have several consequences, therefore, research is needed to bring information about the toxicity 
of these plants. However, there is little research on the toxicity and genetic diversity of Cambará and to assist in 
the conservation and management of the species, studies on genetic diversity are important, which are carried 
out through molecular markers that help to determine the levels of genetic diversity, enabling strategies aimed at 
their conservation. In this context, the work aims to verify the diversity and genetic structure of populations of 
Vochysia divergens in the State of Mato Grosso through molecular microsatellite markers, as well as to evaluate 
the cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of the species. Five populations of V. divergens with natural occurrence in
 the state of Mato Grosso will be sampled, from which plant material (leaves/bark) will be collected. 
The cytogenotoxicity analyzes will be carried out using the Allium cepa test, using leaves and bark for the 
preparation of infused and decocted aqueous extracts. For the analysis of diversity and genetic structure, 
DNA will be extracted using the CTAB protocol with modifications for the species. Amplifications will be 
performed by means of PCR with eight SSR markers with proven transferability to the species. This study will
 provide information for use in future conservation, management and genetic improvement programs.
