RESUMO:

The increase in soil carbon stocks has been an alternative to face the impacts of global climate change, where this storage is influenced by the modality of anthropogenic land use, which is why the development of land use alternatives that promote sequestration results of CO2. Considering that carbon sequestration is an alternative for the mitigation of greenhouse gases, this research aimed to estimate the carbon stock in soils under different types of use in the Mato Grosso city of Cáceres. The methodological procedures used included: collection of soil samples in 12 sampling points, located in areas of Integration Crop-Livestock-Forest, Pasture and Forest Reserve, during the month of March 2021; separation of samples to carry out soil analysis related to granulometry (sand, silt and argil); determination of density and identification of organic carbon content, as well as quantification of carbon stock. Given the results analyzed, it can be said that the study area suffered impacts associated with changes in the landscape due to the change in land use, where it is highlighted by anthropized non-agricultural and agricultural areas. However, these changes can be reflected in soil properties, where the predominance of the sandy texture found may be related to erosive processes and the anthropic action of the environment, and that the probable losses of soil carbon may be closely associated with the characteristics of the environment. , type of vegetation, type of use and management and climatic conditions. Thus, the results of this work indicate that local differences between areas and their types of impacts are shown in differences in soil carbon contents, which is consistent with other studies under different land uses and locations in the state of Mato Grosso, mainly when comparing the total average values found for the study area - Pasture 68.10 Mg ha-1, Forest Reserve 55.03 Mg ha-1 and ILPF 47.35 Mg ha-1, where promoted soil carbon stocks for Pasture, were higher values than those found in Forest Reserve and ILPF. Thus, when comparing the data presented with other studies already carried out in the state, it is possible to highlight that the results obtained are in the same range or above those found in previous studies, this can presumably occur due to the different scenarios and methodologies carried out. , as the variation of the scales of depth and temporality. Thus, it can be said that the study of carbon stock in the soil is of paramount importance and is necessary in all regions, since soils have the potential to sequester large amounts of carbon and, therefore, knowledge about its variability and estimation, is very important to assess soil quality, mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions, climate change and environmental sustainability.
