THE HISTORICAL-SOCIAL SITUATION OF MOZAMBICAN WOMAN REPRESENTED IN THE WORK A CONFISSÃO DA LIONA, BY MIA COUTO
Mozambican literature; Mia Couto; woman; representation; female voice.
Mozambican women have always faced the segregation and violence imposed by the patriarchy present in that country’s society. The main objective of this research is to analyze, from the reading of Mia Couto’s novel A confissão da leoa, elements that denounce the subjugated situation of women in Mozambique. A literature review was carried out, with several authors, in addition to the work A confissão da leoa itself, which served as a guide for the analysis. The authors used in the research are Bosi (1974), Chabal (1994). Bonnici (2007), Dalcastagnè (2007), Couto (2012), Guimarães and Tutikian (2014), Leite (2020), among others. Other materials used were found in databases such as Scielo – Scientific Electronic Library Online. Through the study, Mia Couto’s intention to denounce the mistreatment experienced by Mozambicans is clearly perceived and, more than that, it makes it clear that through union, women may overcome the ties that imprison and kill them.
