BETWEEN THE FACES OF EROS: the mythical update in the amorous lyric of Santiago Villela Marques
Eros. Myth. Poetry. Santiago Villela Marques.
The objective of this study was to investigate the images that recover the mythical figure of Eros elaborated in the love-themed poems of the books Primeiro (2004) and Outro (2008) by the contemporary poet Santiago Villela Marques. To this end, the procedure employed in this research path was supported by myth-criticism, through which it was investigated how the variations of the myth of Eros are presented in the poetic texture, from the critical approaches of the imaginary based on Gilbert Durand , as well as Gaston Bachelard and Carl Gustav Jung. Also considered were the fundamental concepts of myth and image and a brief inventory of the consecrated versions of the myth carried out by Eros, based on the studies of Jaa Torrano and Junito Brandão, in addition to theoretical postulates by Alfredo Bosi. From the results obtained, it was verified that the poet opted for the classic forms of the poem, especially the sonnet, to carry out the mythical update, in which the images constellate for an operation of return of the being to communion with its nature, made possible by the encounter with the other and its developments: divisions, exiles, rebirths and completions.
