The present study aims to analyze the indicative aspects of female identity representation and reconfiguration in the novel, Niketche: uma história de poligamia, by the Mozambican Paulina Chiziane, we seek to identify the representative path of new identities, in addition, the research seeks in the literature written by women. It seeks to understand how literature has brought new symbolic representations in relation to the social role of women in Reflective Modernity. From the place of protagonism in her story, the main character of the narrative, Rami, represents all her peers, in addition, this is also a process of breaking with oppression and subalternity. When examining how post-colonial literature approaches the social role of women in order to break with historical stereotypes, it also corroborates with the reflection on gender equity, in the discussion about the silencing imposed on women, especially those from colonized peoples, the example from Mozambique. To support the analysis, the notes of Hall (2003 and 2006) on identity, Bonnici (2000) and Mata (2014) on postcolonial theory were used, and the teachings of Zolin (2019), Woolf (1928) and Perrot (1998) in relation to female authorship, these theories contributed to the understanding of the historical role of language and literature used by dominant classes as tools in the affirmation of hegemonic social models in opposition to the literature written by women in contemporary times, whose contribution has been in the representation and reconsideration of plural identities, as for example in Niketche, when presenting a multicultural society and its different marital systems.
