RESUMO:

In this master's thesis entitled The representation of the feminine in the poetry of Irene Severina Rezende, we seek to investigate, in some of the poet's poems, female representation in the Brazilian sociocultural context, of a patriarchal nature, especially the sertanejo universe. In these representations, we seek, through the voice of the lyrical self, the narration of memories that can be understood in the light of the post-colonial literary movement, which opened up subaltern and marginalized peoples to have a place of speech/representation in the literary canon. The objective of this research focuses on analyzing fifteen poems by the author focusing on the experiences of peasant women who move in different dimensions of everyday life, bringing symbolic representations of the human condition and social and cultural life. To develop the theme, we use the author's literary production in the following works: Páginas Rendadas Colhidas Ao Amanhecer (2012), Prolongamento (2005) and No floor do Araguaia, li meu mundo (2016). From the inferences contained in the voices of the lyrical self, we can see the correlation between the human condition of patriarchy, female subordination, women's search for emancipation and the social organization of work. For the analysis of the texts, among the main theorists, Zolin (2009) and his contributions to the understanding of post-colonialist theory and criticism were considered, in addition to literature written by women; Candido (1996) and the assumptions for analyzing the poem; Walker (2021) and her studies focused on the historicity of women's writing, especially female poetry in Mato Grosso;  Halbwachs (1968), who emphasizes memory, since no memory can coexist isolated from a social group, and Le Goff (1924), which expands the discussion on history and memory. The development of this study leads to symbolic discussions regarding women, such as the denunciation of their inferiorization and silencing, remnants of a patriarchal society.
